Masters Endurance Legends success

by John Judd | Sep 20, 2017 | Historic, Le Mans

Spa circuit, Belgium, 13-16th September

Well done to the four Judd Power customers who participated in the inaugural Masters Endurance Legends series race at the Spa Francorchamps circuit in Belgium at the weekend.

Cars were entered by the following teams:
Chamberlain Synergy: Creation Aim-Judd V10 LMP1
Rollcentre racing: Dallara-Judd V10 LMP1
WDK Motorsport/Robert Blain: Oreca-Judd V8 LMP2
Matthieu Lahaye: Pescarolo-Judd V10 LMP1

The Creation & Oreca cars ran in the Wednesday open test session. Unfortunately the Creation suffered a clutch failure after a few laps, which prevented further participation in the race weekend. Robert Blain and Jonathan Kennard turned laps in the Oreca, performing system checks and working on TC setup.

In qualifying Martin Short qualified the Dallara in an excellent 2nd place (behind a diesel…twas ever thus).

Come race day the Rollcentre, WDK & Lahaye cars were fast & reliable but ultimately were pipped to the top step of the podium, finishing in 2nd, 3rd & 4th places, with Sean Doyle’s ex-Murphy Prototypes ORECA 03 LMP2 narrowly edging out the Bob Blain owned similar machine driven by Jonathan Kennard. It was equally satisfying to see all Judd V8 & V10 powered cars finish ahead of the diesel powered entry, the normally very rapid Peugeot 908.

In third and fourth came the first of LMP1 cars, Matthieu Lahaye’s Pescarolo 01 trailing Doyle by 28 seconds while Martin Short ended up fourth, having initially led the race, in his Rollcentre Dallara SP1, some 45 seconds down on the winner.

We’re looking forward to supporting our customers at further Masters events in 2018.
