Dyno Test Engineer

We have an immediate vacancy for a Dyno Test Engineer.

We manufacture our own race engines and also rebuild some from other manufacturers and we are looking for a skilled mechanic who takes pride in being able to take on almost anything that comes along.

The work involved is a mixture of engine testing and building and the testing will also require some ability to make simple parts used to fit engines onto the test bed. In addition you will need some electrical knowledge and be able to do simple wiring and it would be helpful if you have some ability to use basic machine tools, i.e. centre lathes and milling machines. We do not necessarily expect you to have previous test bed experience and will provide training as required including programming and set up of the test bed data logging and control system.

Ideally you will be a fully trained mechanic looking to find a more interesting job and to improve your skills and experience. You should be enthusiastic about engines and like to mess around with cars, bikes and/or engines in your leisure time. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work with an experienced team, learn lots of new stuff and hopefully show us a few things as well. It would also help if you have a sense of humour.

The Role:

  •         Installing engines on our test dynos and preparing them for test
  •         Programming and maintenance of dyno data logging and control system
  •         Testing engines under the supervision of an engineer
  •         Maintaining dynos and test cells (electrical, water, oil and hydraulic systems, dyno calibration)
  •         Dyno fault diagnosis and rectification
  •         Design & fabrication or sourcing of engine installation fixtures and fittings
  •         Occasional engine build work

 Qualifications & Experience

No specific qualifications are required for this role, though we would expect applicants to be time served or trained in a relevant engineering discipline.

This is a role for someone with extensive knowledge of engines and electrical systems and preferably with previous engine test experience, though this is not essential. A practical and proactive, hands-on approach is very important.

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of our Dyno Test Engineer.

To be considered for the role you must already have the right to work in the UK.
